Collaboration with Japanese Franchise Brand, Cottonology Releases Pokémon-Themed Collection

Jakarta: Bandung-based clothing label Cottonology has launched its first Pokémon-themed clothing collection in June 2022. This collection features characters Pikachu, Eevee, and Squirtle on comfortable T-shirts ideal for everyday wear. The colorful and eye-catching designs make these garments easy to mix and match with daily outfits.
Carolina Danella Laksono, CEO of Cottonology, stated that before being released to the public, the Cottonology Pokémon Collection is scheduled for pre-order starting Wednesday (June 1) through a sales program on the Blibli.com marketplace.
“From June 1 to July 31, Cottonology is partnering with Blibli.com to host a pre-order program for the Cottonology Pokémon Collection. During this period, fans can order the T-shirts ahead of their official release date in Indonesia,” she said in a press release.

Currently, Cottonology is one of the favorite brands among young people in Indonesia. Various Cottonology fashion products, such as T-shirts, shirts, jackets, pants, and accessories like wallets and perfumes, have captured the attention of youth due to their minimalist and colorful designs.
“We have also released the Cottonology Ocean Blue perfume. For us, fashion is not just about what we see but also about what we feel. If something looks beautiful but is not pleasant to the senses, then the philosophy of fashion is not achieved. For us, fashion is a complete expression of oneself, not just a visual experience,” Carolina explained.

Cottonology is part of PT GM Textile, a company that has been established in Indonesia for over 60 years with a focus on woven fabric production. This local brand has sold over 400,000 men's clothing items across Indonesia. In the production process, this SME involves local seamstresses around Bandung, including home-based artisans, individuals, and freelancers.
Cottonology plans to expand into the ASEAN market. According to Carolina, the ASEAN market is quite large and has attractive potential.
“There are over 600 million people in ASEAN, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and others. If we capture just 0.1 percent, we already have a market of 600,000 people. With such a large consumer base, there are many domino effects. Additionally, Cottonology is in the process of obtaining ISO certification to ensure standardization and certification, which will help protect its products from copyright infringement,” Carolina concluded.
